National Safety Stand Down Week recognizes the construction fatalities that occur each year due to preventable falls. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 350 of the 937 construction fatalities recorded in 2015 (BLS data).  The goal of National Safety Stand Down Week is to raise fall hazard awareness in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.

From May 8th- May 12th, the team at StructureTec Group recognized National Safety Stand Down Week.  The week’s happenings kicked off on Monday morning with a corporate-wide safety update presentation.  The informational presentation featured input from the company’s top executive, the Safety Committee chairman, as well as members from the human resources, fleet management, ServiceTec, and construction services teams.  Employees were reminded why safe work practices are so vital to our company, our clients, and to each person, individually.  StructureTec’s safety culture encourages each employee to be accountable for his/her own safety, as well as encouraging him/her to immediately identify and report any safety concerns.

Additional Safety Week activities took place that reinforced the importance of vehicular and on the job safety.  These activities were informative and fun.  Company-wide participation occurred with representatives from all five offices getting involved.  The week’s happenings included a safety tip of the day, safety slogan contest, "Safie" contest, safety accolades, and safety trivia.  The week concluded with a reception that provided employees a platform to share their input on safety practices, as well as offer suggestions on how to continue to work together to raise the bar on safety.
